Hello!!

And welcome to My Not So Empty Nest!  My one and only chick has left the nest for college, and for the first time in my entire life, I’ll be living alone.  Now, some might see this as a bad thing, a time when the focus of my life becomes blurry and indistinct.  However, that’s not how I see it all.

The way I see it, now is the time I get to start living my life for me.  This is definitely a crossroads, but it’s a crossroads of which opportunity to explore first, not a crossroads of sorrow and loss.  And, I think there’s a lot of singles and couples who are standing at the crossroads with me, eager to take the next step and see what adventures lie ahead!

This blog is about those adventures.  I’m starting out slow, but I want to put it all down here because I’ve discovered that I don’t know what I think until I see what I write.  I’ll be blogging about what this next chapter is like as far as my little chick leaving the nest, too, but I’m trying very hard to keep a positive spin on things, even on the bad days.  Of which I’ve had a few, and which I’m sure I’ll have again.  If I’ve discovered anything it’s that change is a time where you feel the loss of what was, even as you feel the excitement of what’s to come.

Also, I’m in the process of making a career change.  I’m hoping that blogging and writing will be that change, but I’m letting the universe take the lead on this one for the next little while.  For now, we’ll see where the wind blows me and what opportunities come my way.
